Mercies Part I

A pair of double rainbows over Suntec City (Tower 4) taken about 6 plus in the evening, after Sunday's message on rainbow and it's significance!!

There is a slightly softer rainbow above the more vivid one. =)

I was in the shower and suddenly thought of an old old song I used to sing back when I was attending Sunday School at my aunt's church Paya Lebar Methodist. It's strange but I often think of ideas and get inspired while I'm taking my shower. lol! Anyway, I found the song and here are the lyrics:

Great is thy faithfulness

Oh God my Father
There is no shadow of turning with thee
Thou changest not
Thy compassions they fail not
As thou hast been
Thou forever will be

Summer and Winter

Springtime and harvest

Sun, moon and stars in their courses above

Join in all nature in manifold witness

To thy great faithfulness

Mercy and love

Great is Thy faithfulness

Great is Thy faithfulness

Morning by morning new mercies I see

All I have needed Thy hand hath provided

Great is Thy faithfulness

Lord unto me

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth

Thy own dear presence to cheer and to guide

S
trength for today and bright hope for tomorrow
Blessings all mine with ten thousand aside

(Chorus)

Great Is Thy Faithfulness

Words: Thomas O. Chisholm, 1923
Music: William M. Runyan, 1923

It's a slow hymn but very soothing and reminds me how His mercies endureths forever. I was surfing on the word 'mercies' looking for this song when I came across a sermon by Dr. Jack Hyles called For His Mercy Endureth Forever.

Basically he expounds on the word mercy in the Bible and its context. My favourite portion was about how the word 'endure' comes from a greek word which means 'to conquer'! So His Mercies Conquers Forever!! How cool is that manz?! And also the part about Dr. Weigle practicing for Heaven. =)

This is another song that speaks of the mercies of Abba Father:

It's our confession Lord, that we are weak
So very weak, but You are strong
And though we've nothing Lord, to lay at your feet
We come to Your feet and say, 'Help us along'

A broken heart and a contrite spirit
You have yet to deny
Your heart of mercy beats with love's strong current
Let the river flow by your Spirit now, Lord we cry

Let Your mercies fall from heaven
Sweet mercies flow from heaven
New mercies for today
Shower them down Lord as we pray
Let Your mercies fall from heaven
Sweet mercies flow from heaven
New mercies for today
Shower them down Lord as we pray

Sweet Mercies
David Ruis, 1996

"Great is Thy Faithfulness" is printed on the cross on my wall at home. It is also one of my fav old hymns. I yodel it at the top of my lungs when no one is at home wahahaha =D

I esp love the part where it goes "there is no shadow of turning with thee". It reminds me that Daddy will never turn His back on me no matter what I do, what I become and that He will never leave me in the shadows but will always let His face shine on me. =D

And ya I saw the other song too "The Steadfast Love of The LORD Never Ceases" - the first time I heard it, twas sung by Don Moen. He has such a soothing voice somehow. =) I like that His Amazing Grace for us is renewed with each new day.

God is good all the time!
